About 35 miles west of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sits a small,
technical and incredibly rewarding road racing course called Hallett.
Built in 1976, this 1.8 mile, 11 turn track features 80 feet of
elevation change through its hilly topography. Hallett is
considered a ‘technically difficult’ course, and for good reason. One
of the most unique features is an uphill, off-camber turn which is
infamous for sending unsuspecting drivers off-course. So much so, that
its official nickname is, ‘The Bitch.’

I was afforded the opportunity to participate in a private track day with some friends from the Oklahoma VOA. Though I lived a just a few miles from Hallett for many years, this was my first time to actually drive the course. To make things even more interesting, this event was run in the clockwise direction (reverse of what everyone else was used to) so everyone was learning the course with me. It took me a couple of sessions to get comfortable but by the end of the day, I was turning respectable 1:24.x laps and wishing for another day to continue to work my times lower.
